Happy Memorial Day.
Remember this day is set aside to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrificed for our liberty and freedoms. Pause to honor them.
I will be attending the memorial services at Blue Hills Cemetery.
Maybe you would like to join the hundred or so who attend this annual service.
Special thanks to the Ridge family for their continued support.

(Beacon Hill Moves to Increase Property Tax)
House leadership attacks Proposition 2½; Urges major tax hike. The Ways & Means Committee moves to increase property taxes without local override vote. House Bill H4618 is a stealth attack on Massachusetts tax payers.
Law makers on Beacon Hill increased the sales tax in August. Now this! Say No!
This is yet again another reminder that one party rule is not good for us. Look at what is going on in Washington. Look at what is going on at Beacon Hill. One party rule is a disaster.
Call Beacon Hill and tell them NO to higher taxes.
Remind them; Taxing during a recession is the worst thing you can do; it constricts economic recovery and kills job creation.
Election day November 2nd cannot come fast enough. Please send me to Beacon Hill as your State Representative. I will be your advocate.

(State Representative Candidate, Dan Clifford Speaks at Wood Road Association Breakfast)
State Representative Candidate for the 5th Norfolk District, Councilor Dan Clifford took his campaign to the people of the Wood Road Association of Braintree today.
Also in attendance was Republican Gov. Candidate Charlie Baker, and Democratic Senator Michael Morrissey, candidate for Norfolk County District Attorney.
The event was was held at F1 Boston on Wood Road in Braintree.
Candidate Dan Clifford layed out several priorities; job creation, tax reductions and specific to Wood Road and to ease some traffic congestion in Braintree's Plaza area, his promise to champion a Wood Road exit connection to route 128.
Dan explained he has experience creating jobs from his days at Fortune 200 companies like EMC and Sun Microsystems, Inc.
In three years we grew a business from nothing to $21 million dollars using existing company infrastructure. The jobs we created were good paying permanent positions, not temporary, and that is a big, big difference compared to what our Federal and State Governments are doing with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act monies.
Dan also positioned himself as a tax cutter and provided examples of how President's John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan grew the economy as a result of lowering the marginal tax rates of income. "You cannot tax your way out of a recession", said Dan. Here again he took aim at Governor Patrick and the legislature for increasing taxes this past Fall as the people struggle to make ends meets. The Governor and Legislature did the exact wrong thing.
Councilor Clifford pointed out the more discretionary money the people have the quicker the economy can turn around. We should be cutting taxes and circulating that money through our local economy. That will create demand and jobs" Clifford said.
Councilor Clifford extends his thanks to the Wood Road Association for the opportunity this presented in getting my campaign in swing.

One suggestion just brought forward today was a basketball court.
Send in your suggestions. (Click here to send your suggestions) I will compile those and send onto the mayor for his consideration, followed by a neighborhood meeting to vote or otherwise come to a neighborhood concensus agreement.

District 6 Neighbors Information Meeting is on Thursday, January 21 at 7PM at 85 Quincy Avenue.
“We have invited the Highlands neighborhood to our meeting on the third Thursday in January to discuss the possibility of siting a dog park and possibly a playground, similar in size to the Hollis playground, at the town-owned property off Route 37 at South Street,” Chairman Bruce Tobin told the Forum on Dec. 31. “The property, the grounds of the (former Norfolk County) hospital, was purchased a few years ago with Community Preservation Act (CPA) funds, and we are looking for input from the community about the possibility of placing a dog park and playground there.
